Principal for the Elementary School

Position Available: LOWER SCHOOL PRINCIPAL

Job Description:

The Ramallah Friends School Board of Trustees is seeking an experienced educational leader to fill the position of Principal for the Elementary School (known as FGS). The FGS is an over-century old school established by American Quakers in 1869 and owned by Friends United Meeting (FUM) in Indiana. Our value-led school promotes excellence in academics and encourages spiritual development by nurturing the whole child, and helps students recognize their responsibility towards society. Today, the FGS is a co-educational Preschool – 6th grade institution with over 650 students enrolled and over 60 staff members and boasts a reputation as one of the leading schools in Palestine.

The FGS Principal will be a transformational leader able to build on the excellent performance of the past decades while instituting change in line with contemporary educational standards. The FGS Principal will be responsible for providing educational and operational leadership by organizing, supervising and evaluating all aspects of the school life. The Principal will be expected to ensure the continuous improvement of the school and its staff while increasing student achievement. S(he) will serve as a de facto member of the Board of Trustees and the Executive Committee and will therefore be involved in setting and executing school policies. The FGS Principal will report to the School Director.

It is required that the candidate

be familiar with Quaker values and enjoys a love for children
be knowledgeable with Elementary school quality assurance practices
demonstrates at least eight years of experience in the education field
possess teaching experience preferably in the elementary school setting
be experienced in school administration including development, monitoring and evaluation of educational program, curriculum development, human resource planning, performance evaluations, student discipline, budgeting, maintenance and procurement
hold a master’s degree or above in a field relevant to Education
have excellent communication skills and is preferably bi-lingual (Arabic and English) both spoken and written and is computer savvy

Finance and Administrative Assistant

Position: Finance and Administrative Assistant
Location: Selfeet, with some travel throughout Palestine

Partners for Sustainable Development (PSD) is a Palestinian NGO working towards applying sustainable development approaches in community and economic development. PSD’s programs are implemented through a network of Community Learning and Development Centers (CLDCs) located in Jenin, Salfeet, Nablus, Bethlehem, Hebron and South Hebron. As part of its social development’s education programs and in partnership with a number of international foundations, investment groups, and multi national IT companies, the Palestinian private sector and the Palestinian government, PSD has recently launched the NETKETABi Project. NETKETABi aims to provide some 280,000 learning solutions NETBOOKs through three main components. 1) The Palestinian children and youth ages 6-18 will have access to NETBOOKs. 2) Content development and training that will allow these children and youth acquire new skills that prepare them for a highly competitive world and for knowledge based societies. 3) The integration of formal and informal education through well designed in classroom related activities, community learning and service learning approaches.

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
The Finance and Administrative Assistant will be responsible for the day-to-day financial and administrative operations of the Community Learning and Development Center (CLDC) including tasks related to micro-finance activities.  The Finance and Administrative Assistant will work in close coordination with the finance and administration staff in the Ramallah main office and ensure compliance with PSD financial, procurement and administrative procedures.

TASKS
-Maintain day-to-day operation and communication of procurement, logistical, human resources and finance matters.
-Prepare procurement requests and conduct procurements in accordance to established policies and procedures.
-Assist in the preparation of the CLDC’s budget and advance requests, monitor budget and perform revisions as necessary.
-Prepare expenditure reports on a regular basis, and other financial reports as requested.
-Ensure completeness of documentation, check accuracy of calculation for all financial transactions related to the CLDC.
-Maintain CLDC’s assets and inventory and prepare periodic reports.
-Monitor project distribution plan and follow up on delivery and needed documentation.
-Provide information and advice to the beneficiaries concerning the different types of micro-finance loans offered, including terms and documentation needed to be considered for a loan.
-Review micro-finance loan applications for completeness and accuracy.
-Form and manage the micro-finance collateral guarantee groups in coordination with relevant partners.
-Coordinate with partner bank/micro-finance institution on loan processing and approval.
-Monitor project’s distribution plan and follow up on delivery and needed documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS
-BA in business administration, preferably in finance or accounting.
-At least 1-2 years of relevant experience.
-Excellent computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Word & Excel
-Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
-Fluent in written and spoken English and Arabic
-Must be organized, detail-oriented, self-reliant, with good initiative.

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
PSD is currently in the process of setting up the content development program both for in classroom activities and after school and extra curricula activities and is looking for a content development expert to assist in this process and lead implementation. The Content Development Manager will provide insights in the development and day-to-day management of content development and implementation activities both in the Palestinian school participants in the NETKETABi Project and the PSD’s CLDCs’ after-school programs and activities.

TASKS
-Provide overall supervision and leadership in the design, management and implementation of content development related assignments and activities both in the classroom and PSD’s CLDCs.
-Serve as the primary point person for all content development related donors and partners, where s/he will ensure regular reporting and sharing of information and updates with the component’s partners.
-Develop the content development implementation plan, branding and marking plan, and component indicators and primary and appropriate measurement and evaluation methods.
-Represent PSD’s NETKETABi Project in local, regional and international content related forums where s/he should be able to discuss technical solution alternatives and different approaches to process cost benefit analysis in content development and E-learning.
-Help build the component team and provide them with necessary trainings Thorough understanding of K-12 curriculum and assessment item creation and assessment item alignment.
-Bring continuous process improvement towards increasing quality and building new skills sets within the organization.
-Provide analytic insights and regular report to senior management of PSD Be able to work with internal and/or external teams and partners to deliver on key project metrics.
-Ability to identify critical information in business context and organize it in a manner that makes sense to the broad user group, web or UI design

QUALIFICATIONS
-3-5 years of experience managing education projects in a multi donor environment. Strong familiarity with recognized e-learning technical standards.
-Experience with the use of content management systems and learning management systems.
-Excellent spoken and communication skills in Arabic and English Language.
-Sound knowledge of the use of Web technology, technical aptitude, and problem solving skills.
-Proficient computer skills (MS office, PhotoShop, Adobe Acrobat Professional, Adobe Web Premiums CS3 or above, etc.)
-Proven ability to handle high-volumes of work and manage multiple projects within tight and sometime shifting deadlines
-BA or MA in Education, Information Technology or any related social science degree.

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
The Communications and Reporting Officer supervises and manages the PSD’s Communications Department. S/he is responsible for the development of the PSD’s communications and outreach strategies that will help inform PSD’s partners, beneficiaries and the Palestinian public of PSD’s programs and future strategic plans and interventions. The Communications and Reporting Officer will also be responsible for all the reporting donors’ requirements, and developing and ensuring adherence of donors’ marking and branding strategies. The Communications and Reporting Officer will be managing the communications department team.

TASKS
-Supervision of all Communications staff by providing management oversight, mentoring, and coaching.
-Development and implementation of an appropriate communications strategy/system to document all project activities.
-General oversight of PSD’s activities to capture, categorize and disseminate information.
-Oversee logistics for major public relations events.
-Develop reports on project activity such as quarterly/weekly/monthly reports.
-Develop and edit website material.
-Develop organization’s outreach materials.
-Editing of all reporting and communications documents (In Arabic and English), to ensure accuracy, quality, and consistency

QUALIFICATIONS
-3-5 years experience in communications PR, reporting in a multinational environment.
-Very strong track record in English language writing for PR and communications purposes.
-Strong skills in outreach, public relations and reporting.
-BA or Master’s degree in a related field
-Arabic is a plus.
